North West Leicestershire District Council says is it pressing ahead with the 'safe re-opening of the night time economy' in the Coalville and Ashby area - despite Leicester being forced into local lockdown.

The council says it is aware that people are concerned about how Leicester's re-newed restrictions will affect this area.

But while officials will be attending meetings this week to confirm the area's position in light of the spike in

Coronavirus cases in Leicester, plans to re-open pubs and restaurants from this Saturday appear to be unaffected.

The district council released a comment to Coalville Nub News on Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesperson said: "We understand that there are many questions and concerns about how the local lockdown in Leicester and some surrounding areas will affect North West Leicestershire.

"We will be attending a number of county wide partnership calls over the next couple of days to obtain more information, the detail should then be clearer and we will be able to better advise.

"We know that North West Leicestershire is not directly impacted in terms of any lockdown restrictions - and we are continuing to plan for the safe re-opening of our night time economy."

Leicestershire County Council released a map of the restricted area earlier today (Tuesday) which does not include Coalville Leicester Lockdown map
