Delivery driver was spat at and racially abused in Ibstock incident

A delivery driver was spat at and subjected to racial abuse in an incident in Ibstock.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened on Tuesday afternoon in Station Road.

The man alleged to have abused the deliver driver pulled up in his Peugeot 308 car before driving away from the scene.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Officers are appealing for information after a racially-aggravated assault in Station Road, Ibstock at around 12.30pm on Tuesday.

"It was reported that a man was driving an older-model Peugeot 308 along Station Road when he passed a male delivery driver, made a racially-aggravated comment and spat at him. T

"The man then drove away from the scene."

PC Justin Taylor added: "This was a distressing incident for the delivery driver and we are keen to hear from anyone with any information about this incident.

"It happened in the middle of the day when many people are likely to have been out and about.

"Anyone who was in the area of Station Road at the time, saw a blue Peugeot 308 or captured it on dash cam, please get in touch."
