North West Leicestershire District Council is reviewing whether to replace the seven new trees that were vandalised in Coalville Park last week.
The Friends of Coalville Park reported that the trees had been broken in an 'act of mindless vandalism' - with the damage reportedly costing £2,500.
Now, the council says it may not be worth replacing them in case the same thing happens again.
But it is considering installing permanent CCTV cameras in an attempt to catch anyone causing similar problems in the park.
Cllr Michael Wyatt, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at NWLDC, said: "It's extremely disappointing to see that our trees at Coalville Park have yet again borne the brunt of another mindless act of vandalism.
"These trees were previously funded by the National Forest, and would cost around £2,500 to replace and we are reviewing whether it's viable to plant any more.
"We're also looking into more permanent CCTV measures at Coalville Park to catch the culprits behind these acts of destruction.
"In the meantime, if anyone has any evidence or spotted anything untoward in connection with this incident, please help us by reporting it to 101 and reference the crime number 23000496701."
The Friends of Coalville Park posted a message on social media the day after the attack.
It reads: "We have some very sad news to report. Seven of the new trees that were planted at the back of Coalville Park have been broken off overnight.
"This mindless act of vandalism is estimated to cost around £2,500 and this takes money away from investing in other facilities for the Park.
"The incident has been reported to police. Footage has been obtained of three youths entering the park at 2.54am, but not of the act being committed.
"If anyone has any information regarding this incident, the perpetrators or any footage of the act please report it to the police using the non-emergency number.
"This news is very upsetting to all involved with the Park and such vandalism is spoiling the enjoyment of the Park for the community at large."
The council's social media also commented on the damage caused, posting: "It's extremely disappointing to see that our trees at Coalville Park have yet again bore the brunt of another act of mindless vandalism.
"We know that many residents will be angered by this news, but please rest assured that we are doing what we can to help bring these vandals to justice."
