North West Leicestershire District Council has issued a week-by-week guide to when you can expect your cardboard to be collected in the Ashby area.

The Council says they know some people are not sure when the yellow bag collections will resume.

Cardboard waste collections were suspended at the beginning of the coronavirus lockdown.

They resumed on Tuesday but will be spaced over a month so that they alternate with your garden waste collection.

The council posted on Wednesday: "We're aware some people are unsure when their monthly cardboard collection is due.

"Monthly cardboard collections started this week - but this is only week one of a four week cycle.

"Therefore only a quarter of households will receive a collection this week.

"Please see the cycle below which may help you to understand your collections.

"After week four it will repeat.

"Your monthly cardboard collection will alternate every two weeks with your monthly garden waste collection - on your recycling day.

  • Week one - if your monthly garden waste collection was due week commencing 8 June, your monthly cardboard collection will follow two weeks after during week commencing 22 June.

  • Week two - If your monthly garden waste collection was due week commencing 15 June, your monthly cardboard collection will follow two weeks after during week commencing 29 June

  • Week three - If your monthly garden waste collection is due week commencing 22 June, your monthly cardboard collection will follow two weeks after during week commencing 6 July

  • Week four - If your monthly garden waste collection is due week commencing 29 June, your monthly cardboard collection will follow two weeks after during week commencing 13 July.

The council will collect additional cardboard which has built up in recent weeks that doesn't fit in your yellow bag(s).

You are advised to flatten it to no larger than 4ft x 4ft and leave it weighted down with your yellow bag or put it out in a cardboard box.
