North West Leicestershire District Council says it is 'closely monitoring' plans for a possible national lockdown next week.

Leaked information suggests that the UK could be forced back into a lockdown situation due to rising numbers of coronavirus cases.

The Council says it intends to fully update residents and businesses if any changes are put in place.

The district council's chief executive Bev Smith tweeted today (Saturday): "We are closely monitoring the Government announcements (about) the nation's lockdown.

"And if this changes our services, we will update our website and let you know as soon as possible

"We are here to support our communities through the days ahead."
