Two Coalville sites have been identified by a Leicestershire Charity - the Rural Community Council - as part of 10 new community woodland/orchard areas within the borders of the National Forest.
The Hinckley-based charity delivers numerous community interest projects aimed at enhancing the lives of rural Leicestershire residents.
The Coalville projects are being delivered in partnership with the National Forest Company and they encourage local people to get involved in things such as the initial design, to future management and maintenance of the spaces.
Work is currently underway to design and establish these two new woodland areas for the public to enjoy.
The identified sites are:
• Coalville Community Park – working alongside North West Leicestershire District Council and The Friends of Coalville Park, plans are underway to enhance the current impeccable area with a Community Orchard and Sensory Garden for all to enjoy.
Shortly, events will be held aimed at showing off the plans for the space, while trying to encourage local like-minded persons to become involved in this and future park initiatives.
• Sharpley Avenue Playing Fields – working alongside the District Council, the site has been identified and currently engagement events have been held to seek the views and support of local people.
Feedback regarding the project has been mainly positive, but future events will be held to further raise awareness while seeking as broad a section of public opinion and as many ideas as possible.
As a project The Rural Community Council is currently looking for local people to get involved and help shape what the space will look like, in addition to helping manage and maintain the space in the future.
Anyone interested ib knowing more about the project can email, [email protected] or [email protected] or look out for future event advertisement via Facebook RCC and Spotted sites/Nextdoor App or the Friends of Coalville Park Facebook page.
