Coalville Town sack manager Stevens after results are described as 'under par from the expectations set'
Coalville Town FC have announced they have parted company with First Team Manager Adam Stevens.
The decision followed yesterday's (Saturday) 2-1 defeat at home to Leiston - that left the Ravens 12th in the Southern League Premier Central table, 11 points off the play-off places.
Assistant Manager Danny Davidson has also left.
In a statement issued by the club this morning (Saturday), the club said: "League results in the current campaign have been under par from the expectations set, with the club currently in 12th place in the table, and we now feel reluctantly that a change of leadership is now required to move the football club forward.
"We again wish Adam and Danny all the best for the future and thank them for their continued hard work over the past number of years."
Chairman Glyn Rennocks said: "I would like to go on record to express my personal thanks for all of Adam's efforts and hard work.
"We have had some great times together over the past number of seasons and made great memories that will last forever.
"It's most probably one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but unfortunately this season hasn't gone as planned and reluctantly I have had to come to this decision.
"I wish both Adam & Danny all the very best in the future. I would also like to thank our supporters for sticking with us at this time with your continued fantastic support and ask you do so for the remainder of the season; we are at home again on Tuesday evening against Mickleover and your support would be greatly appreciated."
The club statement added that Stevens had served as First Team Manager since 2018, in his second spell with the club, and Coalville shared a number of successful years together including the famous FA Cup journey last season, where the club reached the first Round Proper for only the second time in the club's history.
There was also a third place finish in the 2021-22 season which resulted in a Play Off Final - and a second place finish in the 2022-23 season which ended in a Play Off Semi-Final.
The Ravens statement adds: "Our preparations for our home league fixture against Mickleover FC on Tuesday evening will continue and First Team Player Coach Steve Towers will be in charge for this fixture.
"We will now begin the recruitment process for our next manager and details on this will be announced in due course."
