Coalville's Long Lane Surgery says plans to vaccinate people locally are 'well under way'.

And there has also been speculation on social media that a vaccination centre in North West Leicestershire will soon be in operation.

A Facebook post on the Long Lane Surgery site says: "The plans for providing the COVID-19 vaccination are well under way locally, and as soon as we have access to the vaccine, a process to start vaccinations will occur.

"We will let you know when it's your turn to have the vaccine. Please do not call the surgery as the reception team cannot book you an appointment for the vaccine currently.

"The most vulnerable groups will be targeted first, we will contact you directly to book you an appointment.

"As we move into 2021 we are excited to welcome the COVID vaccine and are pleased to be able to involved in providing this to our patients.

"More information regarding the COVID vaccination will be coming soon."

A message issued by the Castle Medical Centre in Ashby also says there will be a facility for the whole of the district.

It reads: "Roll out of the vaccination programme has been phased across Leicestershire and plans for a localised centre in North West Leicestershire are well under way for this to go live in January.

"As soon as this service is available for our patients we will be in touch. Patients will be prioritised starting with those over 80 years."
