North West Leicestershire District Council is encouraging Coalville shoppers to stay local as lockdown measures ease.

The council is aware that local business needs a boost more than ever - and urges the public to spend money in the high street rather than online or in cities.

North West Leicestershire District Council posted on social media and said: "By spending money in your local shop, restaurant, café or pub, you're helping to drive money back into the local economy and as a result, aiding national recovery across the country.

"The number one reason to shop local is to help businesses thrive and survive.

"Businesses need us so let's help to keep our favourite shops and businesses on our high streets and town and village centres by giving them our support.

"If you're out in the district, don't forget to keep everyone safe by continuing to follow the guidance, and keep a safe distance from anyone not in your household."
