Another Coalville area school has been given a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted report.

Broom Leys Primary School, part of the Lionheart Educational Trust, had a two-day Ofsted inspection from His Majesty's Inspectors this month.

During the inspection, the team of two inspectors looked closely at the school's quality of education across the board, while undertaking deep dives in reading, mathematics and history, to help them reach their judgment.

This included an observation of lessons, looking through pupils' work, listening to children read, and talking to subject leaders, teachers and pupils. The report noted that,

• 'Leaders have planned an ambitious curriculum that is progressive and considers pupils' starting points.'

• 'Children in the early years make a positive start to their education. They benefit from a warm, nurturing early years environment'

• 'Pupils enjoy reading'

• 'The classrooms are a hive of activity and there is a real buzz of excitement as children explore the activities on offer'

• 'The school's work to support pupils' wider development is strong. Leaders ensure that the curriculum extends well beyond the academic'

Across the two days spent at Broom Leys Primary School - which has 615 pupils aged 4-11 years on roll - HMI Inspectors took time to speak with parents, pupils and staff, to ensure stakeholder views were taken into account, noting in their report that: "Parents and carers hold the school in high regard."

School and Trust leaders as well as the governing body were also interviewed. The report said: "The school is well led. Staff morale is high, and they are proud to work at this school."

In addition, the school's safeguarding systems to ensure pupils are kept safe, were inspected and deemed effective.

Robert Prior, Broom Leys' longstanding Headteacher of 18 years, said: "I am delighted that the inspectors recognised the commitment of everyone to our school; parents, pupils and staff spoke positively and with pride about life at Broom Leys.

"The inspectors acknowledged that our children are polite and hard working and as a result the school has a calm environment.

"They appreciated the wide range of opportunities which this school provides to enrich pupils' life experiences. Most importantly, they commented that children feel safe and happy."

This was the school's first Ofsted inspection since its last 'Good' judgment in April 2018.
