Coalville police clamp down on shoplifting in the town - as 'well known' offender is arrested

Police in Coalville have arrested what they describe as a 'well known' shoplifter whose offences were caught on CCTV.

The Coalville Beat Team said today (Tuesday) that an arrest had been made and a court appearance was due.

It was said the shoplifter had been arrested on suspicion of 'multiple outstanding offences'.

A social media post from North West Leicestershire Police said: "You said - shoplifting in Coalville Town needs to be one of our priorities.

"Yet again, the Council CCTV operators were on the ball.

"They saw a well-known shoplifter in the town centre acting suspiciously.

"Officers from the Coalville Beat Team and Response were on the scene quickly,y and the suspect was arrested for multiple outstanding offences.

"PCSOs attended a local retailer who confirmed a further shoplifting offence had occurred, CCTV and statements gathered.

"After being charged for multiple offences, they will be appearing in court today (Tuesday).

The post added: "If you shoplift in Coalville, you will be monitored by CCTV,

"We will find you, we will arrest you!"
