Coalville police have assured residents in Ellistown that they are addressing the problem of youths causing anti-social behaviour problems in the area.

Police say the matter is being taken seriously and that 'things are happening behind the scenes' to put a stop to it.

Residents have also been promised anonymity if they do not feel comfortable passing on information to the police.

North West Leicestershire Police said: "We are aware of issues relating to a group of youths causing anti-social behaviour in Ellistown, including banging on doors/windows, verbal abuse and damage.

"Please be assured that your local policing team and partner agencies are taking this matter seriously and are taking steps to tackle this problem.

"We understand the frustration from the local community but we can assure you that things are happening behind the scenes to stop this from happening.

"Please continue to call 101 to report further incidents or 999 in an emergency situation

"Please know that all incidents are graded based on risk level, so an immediate response is never guaranteed.

"However, all reports will still be looked at by the beat team and follow up actions will be taken as and where applicable.

"Whilst we would encourage your full support when reporting incidents, we appreciate some people may not feel comfortable with providing their details and so we would urge you to complete a report anonymously.

"This can be done when you ring 101 (simply state you want to remain anon), our online system."
