Coalville MP Andrew Bridgen has reacted to the Sue Gray report by saying the Prime Minister is 'damaging the country and the Government".
In an interview with GB News, Mr Bridgen repeated his opposition to Boris Johnson in the wake of the 'partygate' controversy.
The report points to "failures of leadership and judgement" and excessive drinking at work against the backdrop of the pandemic.
In all, 16 events fell within the investigation's remit and 12 of those are now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.
Mr Bridgen, MP for North West Leicestershire, has already written a letter of no-confidence in the Prime Minister.
And after the report was released, and the response in the House of Commons yesterday (Monday), he added: "It was a difficult session for the Prime Minister.
"The Sue Gray report has been completely filleted of the fact that most people would've liked to have seen.
"For obvious reasons given the Met Police's request.
"But the facts in there are fairly damning, a failure of leadership across No10 and the Cabinet Office, which widens the blame.
"It doesn't actually mention the Prime Minister at all.
"But, ultimately, he is the Prime Minister.
"He sets the culture in No10. The problem is that what emerged from No10 during the lockdowns is the behaviour of those around the Prime Minister.
"It shows the Prime Minister has lost the moral authority to lead the nation in the event of a national crisis.
"He's asking the public to suffer privations and make sacrifices, I don't think he has that moral authority when we know that those around him, and himself, didn't abide by his own rules during the lockdown.
"For me, this makes his position untenable unfortunately.
"I suggested he should have gone a few weeks ago and we could've avoided this death by a thousand cuts.
"That's what we're seeing now.
"It's damaging the country, damaging the government and it's damaging the Conservative party."
