Coalville MP Andrew Bridgen says that North West Leicestershire should move from tier 3 to 2 before the December 16 review.

The Conservative MP has been lobbying for the district to be taken out of the very high alert restrictions that were imposed this week when the country came out of national lockdown on Wednesday.

And he used this week's coronavirus figures, which show Covid rates per 100,000 people, to back up his argument.

Mr Bridgen used his Twitter account to say: "Good to see the sharp falls in the rate of infection in North West Leicestershire and our county neighbours, backs up my reasoning to vote against the Government this week.

"NWL should not have to wait until the 16th Dec for a review of the tiers and a decoupling from Leicester.

"These figures are exactly what I expected when I voted against North West Leicestershire being condemned to Tier 3 restrictions."
