Coalville MP Andrew Bridgen has described Captain Sir Tom Moore as 'a true British hero in every sense'.

Captain Tom passed away on Tuesday with coronavirus.

The 100-year-old, who raised almost £33million for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden, was admitted to Bedford Hospital on Sunday.

The Queen led tributes to Capt Sir Tom, "recognising the inspiration he provided for the whole nation and others across the world".

Mr Bridgen, MP for North West Leicestershire, posted: "So sad to hear that Captain Sir Tom Moore has fought his last fight, a true British hero in every sense .

"We salute you sir and may your example of service and selflessness live on for generations to come.

"Rest in peace my thoughts and prayers are with your family."
