Coalville MP Andrew Bridgen says the Conservative party have won the 'heart and soul of the nation' after Thursday's landslide General Election win.

Mr Bridgen was re-elected to his seat in North West Leicestershire with an increased majority.

But that formed only part of a crushing Conservative win which took Boris Johnson back to No10.

"I said back in May before Boris was elected as leader that we were fighting for the heart and soul of the Party," said Mr Bridgen on Twitter on Monday evening.

"After the General Election result it appears we have now won the heart and soul of the nation. Let's get Brexit done."
