Coalville McDonald's drive-thru will reopen next Wednesday (3 June), franchisee Sarah McLean has confirmed today.

Sarah told Coalville Nub News that for the time being the Stephenson Way fast food restaurant will open with limited trading hours - from 11am to 10pm - and a limited menu featuring mainly meals and not promotional items that would usually be available.

There will also be a maximum order spend of £25 to assist in contactless card payments.

"These are just temporary measures to get us started going again and make sure that our customers and our employees are safe and that we can fulfil reasonable service times as we expect a large demand when we reopen," added Sarah.

McDonald's has confirmed today (Weds) that all drive-thrus in the UK and Ireland will be back in business between next Tuesday and Thursday.

With fewer employees working in kitchens and service areas, McDonald's is asking customers to be patient and supportive of the teams behind the counter as they adjust to new ways of working.

A McDonald's spokesman said: "Face coverings, gloves, Perspex screens and new safety and hygiene processes mean it will look different, it will take a little longer and as we have seen in the pilot restaurants, we expect demand will be high.

"Please bear with us, we will continue to put our people first - their safety is our priority.

"In the last week, on occasion, we have taken the decision to close drive thru lanes where demand has impacted local communities or the safety of our people or customers.

"We will continue to work with local authorities and the police as we extend our reopening plans.

"With smaller teams, we will still be offering a limited menu over reduced hours, and we ask that you make contactless payments and limit your spend to £25.

"We are continuing to review these measures as we reopen, but for now, these restrictions remain in place to help our employees, customers and delivery partner couriers to remain safe."
