Coalville-based Elizabeth Grace Hair and Beauty grabbed the public's attention with its royal display - and has been crowned winner of a jubilee-inspired window competition.

Runners-up The Flower Garden and Birds Bakery have also been highly commended for their efforts to impress voters with their window decorations.

North West Leicestershire District Council's (NWLDC) Best Dressed Window Competition, which launched at the end of May, formed part of its celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

More than 20 businesses from Coalville took part and 550 shoppers submitted votes for their favourite red, white and blue-themed displays.

Three voters from the competition were chosen at random to win family day passes to Conkers with access to its new splash park and community cafe.

Councillor Tony Gillard, Portfolio Holder for Business at NWLDC, said: "It wasn't an easy decision for the public as all the displays looked truly fantastic, but we can all agree that each business did the Queen proud.

"I'd like to thank everyone that took part, and to shoppers for showing their support to Coalville in the spirit of the Platinum Jubilee."

Jodi Nicholson, owner at Elizabeth Grace Hair and Beauty in High Street, said: "We're really proud to be voted as the winners of the Best Dressed Window Competition.

"Myself and my staff put a great deal of thought into our window displays so it's great to be recognised for our efforts.

"A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us."

Nicky Carlton, General Manager at Conkers said: "Firstly, I would like to say a huge congratulations on behalf of Conkers for this fabulous Jubilee Best Dressed Window Competition.

"We are so pleased that the Coalville community leads by example of what can be achieved when we all work together in producing an enjoyable and sought-after experience, by just having a little bit of fun.

"Congratulations to the winner and we look forward to seeing what Coalville presents next."
