Coalville fire crew called out to M1 pile-up which left one person hospitalised

Coalville Fire Crew were called out to a pile up on the M1 this afternoon (Monday).

Just before 1pm, a call was received from East Midlands Ambulance Service requesting Fire Service attendance to a multi-vehicle road traffic collision involving two lorries and two cars.

The incident took place on the northbound carriageway between the Coalville junction, 22, and J23.

One person was was thought to trapped - but this was not the case although one person was later taken to hospital.

Along with the Coalville crew, there was a Technical Rescue from Southern station plus two appliances from Loughborough.

Fire crews made the vehicles safe.

The Highways Agency cleansed the carriageway and the Fire Service were able to hand the incident over to them.
