Coalville fire crew called out to deal with M1 blaze

Coalville Fire Crew were called out to a series of grass verge blazes on the M1 today (Monday) after a lorry blew a tyre and shed its load.

The embankment fires were on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 22 - for Coalville - and 21.

The incident happened just after 12.30 and the motorway was shut by police.

A spokesperson for https://leics-fire.gov.uk/Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Crews in attendance confirmed three fires on embankment caused by lorry shedding its wheel and tyre.

"Three hose reel jets in use. The lorry was not involved in the fire. M1 South has been closed by Police."
