Coalville fire crew called out to Barlestone house blaze on Monday evening

A Coalville fire crew was called out to a blaze at a property in Barlestone last night (Monday).

It was one of nine units to attend the fire at a detached house in Newbold Road shortly before 9pm.

Fire engines from Market Bosworth, Coalville, Southern, Birstall, Western were on the scene along with a turntable ladder from Central, command vehicle from Shepshed and welfare units from Kibworth and Oakham.

The alert was sounded by the occupier reporting a fire.

On arrival, the incident commander requested further fire engines and aerial appliance to assist in fighting the blaze.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service reported that the two-storey building and roof space was fully on fire.

Three main water jets were used to extinguish the fire, while gas cylinders attached to rear of property were being monitored by fire crews.

One occupant suffered smoke inhalation.

Leicestershire Police arrived to conduct traffic management and fire crews were due to carry out a re-inspection of the property at 8.30am.
