Coalville councillors will next week discuss how best to mark a major year for the town in 2024.
Three landmark events will be celebrated over the next 12 months - and North West Leicestershire District Council wants to make the most of them.
Next Wednesday (Dec 20), the Coalville Special Expenses Working Party meets to look ahead to next year.
The agenda sets out how important 2024 could be for Coalville.
It says: "This has the potential to be a high-profile year for Coalville, with celebrations of 125 years of Coalville Park, 50 years of North West Leicestershire District Council and the re-opening of Marlborough Square, all falling within the coming 12 months.
"To accommodate these opportunities, it is proposed that planning for the 2024 / 2025 event programme should commence early in the 2024 calendar year."
Marlborough Square is expected to re-open in the Spring, once the current programme of redevelopment has been completed.
Councillor Richard Blunt, Leader of the district council, said earlier this year: "The redesign of Marlborough Square is a really high-profile project that, together with council investment in key buildings around the square, will make a huge difference to the area once it's complete.
"The project has suffered various delays, and we thank the public for their patience while we remained committed to it."
Cllr Michael Wyatt has made it clear he wants Coalville Park's 125th anniversary to be part of a celebration of the London Road green space.
He said in September: "I am already in talks with officers, councillors and members of the public about what we want to do next year to celebrate the park's 125th year.
"I am hoping that we will be able to put several events on at the park.
"The events we are looking at will involve the whole community so we can come together to celebrate this much-loved park which we are very lucky to have in the heart of Coalville.
"If anyone would like to contact me about any ideas they would like the council to consider I would be happy to consider them."
The council's 50th anniversary comes following its creation on April 1, 1974 under the1972 Local Government Act which saw the end of Coalville Urban District Council.
