Coalville CAN community project is stepping up its campaign to see the old market building converted into a multi-functional events space.

And it wants to hear the views of people in the town - with the idea of handing it over to community ownership.

The group are even talking of the building becoming a mini-National Exhibition Centre.

Coalville C.A.N. says: "The old market building is unique and part of the history of Coalville.

"With the upcoming closure of the building the future of the space is in constant debate.

"The team at Coalville C.A.N would like to see this building repurposed as a multifunctional events space – with community ownership and enterprise at its heart.

"Not only that, they are willing to take action to make it happen! How might you help?

"Coalville Market Building Needs You! Imagine a mini NEC in the centre of Coalville, with Route 52 bike track and car parking enabling easy access for visitors, and a range of activities available for people to take part in and run.

"Imagine this being a sustainable enterprise, with all surpluses generated from hirers being recirculated directly back into the community. Interested?
