In a testament to creative problem-solving and community collaboration, Quarry Manufacturing Services (QMS) has emerged as the hero for Coalville CAN (CCAN) as it faced an unexpected hurdle in installing their new flags.

The Coalville community organisation recently commissioned a set of striking new flags designed by Alex Croson.

Inspired by the National Forest and CCAN's creative and enterprise activities, these flags, crafted by Newton Flags, were ready to adorn the space.

However, an unforeseen challenge arose when the flagpole holders did not fit.

Deana Wildgoose, a representative of CCAN, said: "We had a problem."

Despite the setback, creative metalworker Gavin Derby of Frailoop offered a solution, though it could only be implemented after the site had re-opened following work being carried out inside the Memorial Square offices.

Determined to find a timely resolution, Deana explored various options, reaching out to several engineers.

The breakthrough came when QMS responded.

Jonathan Beck, Director of QMS, along with designer Andy, visited CCAN to devise a solution.

The result not only addressed the installation issue but elevated the flags into works of art.

Deana said: "QMS has been instrumental in not only enabling us to hang the flags, but also turning them into expressions of our mission."

Now, the flags have been installed in time for CCAN's re-opening today (Wednesday).

Jonathan Beck of QMS expressed satisfaction in being part of this community-driven project, and said: "It's always fulfilling to contribute to initiatives that bring people together.

"We're delighted to have played a role in making CCAN's vision a reality."

The community group says that the collaborative effort between CCAN, Newton Flags, Alex Croson, designer and QMS exemplifies the strength of community partnerships and the power of creative problem-solving.

As the flags gracefully flutter, they tell a story not just of Coalville's vibrant community but also of the resilience and ingenuity that arise when communities and businesses join forces.
