A figure in the Coalville community has highlighted the advantages of apprenticeships.

This is National Apprenticeship Week - which is aimed at raising awareness of the openings that are available to young people.

Now, Kirat Sahndu, says apprenticeships played a valuable role in his own life.

He said: "As National Apprenticeship Week shines a light on the incredible opportunities apprenticeships provide, I can't help but reflect on my own journey. 

"My apprenticeship with Caterpillar was a turning point in my life and career, equipping me with invaluable skills and opening doors I never imagined possible.

"Choosing an apprenticeship meant I could gain hands-on experience while earning a wage, all while working alongside industry professionals who shared their expertise and insights. 

"The combination of practical learning and structured education gave me a strong foundation not just for my career but for personal growth as well.

"One of the biggest advantages of an apprenticeship is the real world experience it provides."

Kirat says apprenticeships are an ideal introduction to working life.
