Coalville community figure highlights Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurpurab: A Message of Unity and Compassion
Coalville community figure Kirat Sandhu has highlighted the importance of Guru Nanak Dev Jis Gurpurab which is being celebrated today (Friday).
Sikhs and admirers of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings around the world have come together to celebrate the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru.
This sacred occasion marks the day when Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a beacon of wisdom and compassion, was born in 1469 in Talwandi, now known as Nankana Sahib in Pakistan. His life teachings continue to inspire millions, emphasising equality, selfless service, and devotion to the Divine.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings are timeless, providing guidance for leading a purposeful and harmonious life. On this Gurpurab, devotees honour his legacy by reciting hymns, engaging in prayer, and participating in community service such as langar (a free community kitchen that feeds all, irrespective of background). The day is not only a spiritual celebration but also a reminder of his universal message of peace, love, and humility.

1. Vaand Chakko:

Earn an honest living through hard work and integrity. Guru Nanak Dev Ji emphasised that honest labor and ethical conduct are essential for a meaningful life.
3. Naam Japo:
Chant the name of the Divine and remain connected to God in all that you do. Guru Nanak Dev Jis teachings encourage spiritual mindfulness and devotion to the "True Name."
4. Sarbat da Bhalla:
Pray for the well-being and happiness of all. Guru Nanak Dev Jis vision was of a world where everyone lived in harmony, without barriers of background.
5. Speak the Truth Without Fear:
Guru Nanak Dev Ji believed in fearless honesty and encouraged his followers to uphold truth and justice, even in the face of adversity.
