Plans for a care home as part of an extensive development at Snibston Discovery Park have been submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council.

Outline planning permission for up to 144 homes has been been applied for at the Coalville venue.

The Leicestershire County Council application makes it clear that this is a plan for future development and will be a care home.

The same application also includes an extension to the existing Century Theatre to provide a cafe, visitor centre and rangers' office.

Plans would also see the installation of a play area, public realm works, landscaping and car parks at Ashby Road, with some amendments included.

The application also plans to provide charging for electric vehicles.

The County Council application says the development would also include: "The addition of automatic car park barriers at the entrance and exit of the car park, complete with Automatic Number Plate Recognition.

"The addition of a solar / electrically powered car parking area for the charging of electric vehicles.

"Leicestershire County Council has identified a part of the site to the west of the car parking area as a site for an extra care home to be built at some stage in the future.

"They would therefore like to omit any landscaping that was proposed to this area."
