Coalville CAN says it is in a 'strong position' as the community group's share offer draws to a close.

Memorial Square-based CAN is trying to raise money to buy its offices in Coalville.

The share offer closes today (Monday) and more than 85 applications have been received so far.

A Coalville CAN statement reads: "After being open for two months, our community share offer for the purchase of CAN HQ closes at the end of Monday.

"We'd like to thank everyone who has put in their support so far, and everyone who has shared what we are doing.

"Since we opened, we have received over 85 applications, and alongside other support this leaves our confirmed total at £264,000.

"With other support expected to be confirmed in October before the purchase, we are in a strong position, with loan options from social investors available to make up the rest of the purchase price.

"This week, we were also proud to announce that our community share offer has been offered £50,000 in equity match investment from Co-operatives UK's Community Shares Booster Fund

"If you, or someone you know, would like to put in an application before the end of Monday (September 30), or read more about the share offer, you can find more details HERE."
