Coalville businesses are being encouraged to decorate shop windows red, white and blue to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) has launched its King's Coronation Best Dressed Window Competition and is asking businesses if they would like to take part.

To enter, shops, pubs and venues will need to confirm they are entering the competition by Monday, April 24 by sending their business name, location, and contact details to [email protected]

Windows should be ready for Sunday, April 30, when the public vote will open.

Shoppers and visitors will be able to vote for their favourites in person at the Customer Services Centre on Belvoir Road or online HERE.

Winners will be announced week commencing May 15.

Paul Wheatley, Head of Economic Regeneration at NWLDC, said: "To mark the King's Coronation, we're asking businesses to help us decorate Coalville town centre with a royal theme.

"The aim is to make our main towns as vibrant and welcoming as possible to mark the occasion and make it an event to remember.

"We look forward to seeing all the decorated windows decked out in patriotic colours and hope to see lots of support for businesses."
