A Coalville education business that started just before the Covid-19 Lockdown will celebrate its third anniversary this month - and has just given its 5,000th lesson.

Kip McGrath Coalville celebrated the success of reaching a milestone of 50 lessons per week 12 months ago.

But the High Street franchise - run by award winning co-director Helen Harper - has achieved so much more since then.

Last September, Helen won an award for outstanding contribution to the education support company's network.

She wrote maths material for a new platform being launched by Kip McGrath.

This is going to be used, not only in the company's 250 UK classrooms - including Coalville, but also in all Kip centres worldwide.

The latest milestones seemed a long way off when the Coalville classroom was set up in 2020 - especially as Covid struck just months later.

"They were difficult days, but we came through them," said Helen.

"We were able to teach online, and gradually, the pupils came back into the classroom.

"Of course, what we found was that many students had missed lessons at school and wanted to catch up.

"Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength.

"Now we'd like to keep improving, I think we're doing about 80 lessons a week, so it'd be good to get that up to 100.

"We've worked really hard to recruit an excellent team to increase our capacity without compromising on quality,"

Helen also had another reason to be thankful for the expertise of the team she has assembled in Coalville.

She added: "I wasn't well recently and had to take some time off work.

"It meant that my colleagues had to take on the responsibility of running the centre.

"But they did just that and it means I know I can trust everyone to step up if needed.

"Not only that, the parents and students were really great too.

"We had to move some lessons and groups around and everybody was extremely understanding and supportive.

"We're very lucky to have great relationships with the families we work with."

Kip Coalville offers English and maths tuition for children aged 5-16 who require academic support.

The company believes that all children should have the opportunity to succeed in learning, which in turn helps to boost the child's self- esteem and confidence.

Kip Coalville will offer a free 1 to 1 assessment with a qualified teacher, after which individual learning programme is created, which will link to the national curriculum.

Each 80 minute session includes one to one attention with a tutor, and a combination of written and computer-based activities.

Kip Coalville currently has daytime spaces for home-educated children, so if a parent would like to know more, they should give Helen a call on 01530 234543.
