Buddies Bar in Coalville says its last trading day will be on November 20 - after it was told it is to make way for a new council office.

And the venue, at the entrance to the Belvoir Shopping Centre, is advertising a 'Drink The Bar Dry Day' a week on Saturday.

More details are promised soon, but it seems as though any attempt to reverse the decision to move the bar on has not worked.

A petition was set up to try and keep the bar at its current site, just six months after it opened.

The news came last month as part of North West Leicestershire District Council's plans to move some of its offices from its current site,

Buddies has been promised it will be relocated by the Gylo Trust which now runs the Belvoir Centre.

But an online post on the bar's Facebook page said it had been told it must leave - and is being 'chucked out' - as the unit will form part of new offices which will house the council's customer services team.

The Buddies Bar post at the time read: 'It is with regret that we have to publish this.

"Buddies has been served notice on our lease."

As of today (Monday), around 1170 people had signed a petition to keep Buddies where it us.

You can sign that petition HERE.
