Hundreds of courses to help Leicestershire residents learn new skills or take up a new hobby are set to launch - with an enrolment event coming to Coalville next month.

GoLearn! Leicestershire Adult Learning Service offer part-time day, evening, and weekend courses for adults aged 19+.

From GCSE English and Maths, IT and digital skills to ballet, astronomy and learning languages, there are courses available for everyone.

Bookings for courses starting in September will open on Monday 3rd July and a special 30 per cent discount is available for anyone booking early.

The discount can be used alongside the 70 per cent reduced cost discount available for anyone on a low income and/or eligible certain benefits.

You will be able to enrol at Coalville Library on Wednesday,  July 12, between 1pm-4pm.

Learners can talk to the team about courses available for 2023/24 and enrol in person at an adult learning centre.

The popular Skills for Life courses are also available to sign up for.

These courses are designed specifically to help learners improve their Maths and English, as well as gaining valuable digital skills that help them get back into the job market or support their children's learning.

Skills for Life courses are FREE for everyone, and financial support is available for eligible people to help them complete this course, including transport and childcare costs, resources and exam fees.

Courses are taught from dedicated adult learning centres and suites across Leicestershire, in community venues and online.

Councillor Christine Radford, cabinet member for adults and communities, said: "These courses prove popular every year and we know there's something for everyone. I hope many people take advantage of our early bird discounts to enjoy whichever course they're interested in.

"We're particularly pleased to be offering the Skills for Life course as these make a real difference to people's lives.

"It's why we're committed to ensuring eligible people get the financial support they need to enable them to complete it."

Di, from Enderby, has undertaken maths and English courses. She said: "I've got a brilliant group in Maths and English.

"My confidence has increased, and I know things I didn't know before. It's getting my brain going and it gives me something extra to put on my CV.

"I have a brilliant tutor in Radha - we can go to her for any queries and support."
