A children's hospice has received a £1,000 donation from Amazon in Coalville.

As the East Midlands' only hospice for children and young people, Rainbows provides vital care and support to families impacted by life-limiting conditions.

The Loughborough charity offers end of life care, symptom management, short breaks and respite care, while also being there to support parents and siblings through their bereavements

Speaking about the donation, Martin Cox, General Manager at Amazon Coalville, said: "The support and care that Rainbows Hospice provides for children and their parents is so valuable. We wanted to show our support with this donation and hope it helps the staff and volunteers continue their great work."

Emily Wright, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at Rainbows, added: "On behalf of everyone at Rainbows, I want to say a huge thank you to Martin and the team from Amazon.

"We rely on the support of our community to fund our facilities and to help us continue providing care."

Rainbows received the donation as part of the Amazon in the Community programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering three quarters of a million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
