Cardboard waste collections in Coalville are back!

North West Leicestershire District Council announced on Thursday morning that cardboard recycling collections will resume on a monthly basis from June 23.

The collections were suspended - along with garden waste - during the Coronavirus lockdown due to staffing issues.

But the garden waste collection has already returned - now cardboard is following.

The news will be welcomed by people who have been building up waste cardboard at home.

Coalville tip at Linden Way Has yet to open - and Ashby's Lount tip has been running an appointment only system since reopening last month.

The Council says that cardboard collections will alternate every two weeks with your garden waste.

It says that if you have a garden waste collection due on June 9, your cardboard will be collected as well two weeks later.

Importantly, the Council says that it will collect excess cardboard that has built up over the past three months and does not fit into your yellow bag.

People are being asked to flatten down their cardboard to a size no larger than 4ftX4ft and either leave it weighted down overnight or put into another cardboard box.

The Council confirmed that other black bin and recycling collections remain unchanged.

A message from the Council concludes by saying: "We know how important your bin collections are to you.

"And we'd like to thank you for your continued support as we continue to balance the delivery of our key services with the safety of the public and our collection teams."
