Coalville Police uncovered 130-plant cannabis grow in Whitwick - after following a 'weird smell'.

The raid is the latest in series of similar discoveries in the North West Leicestershire area.

This time, police were alerted to the drugs farm by a member of the public who made their suspicions known concerning the property in Hermitage Road.

No-one was in the house when officers entered and no arrests have been made - police have since issued an appeal for information.

North West Leicestershire Police revealed the find on their Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon.

Their message reads: "Today Officers acted on residents' concerns and investigated a weird smell coming from an address in Whitwick.

"They made entry into the house and found 130 mature cannabis plants! #notothegrow #likedandshared #loadsofweed."

"Entry was gained to the premises and following a search around 130 cannabis plants were recovered. No one was present at the address.

"A scene preservation is in place while enquiries into the circumstances of the incident continue.
