Bradgate Park Trust were urging people not to go there this afternoon with car parks 'at capacity' - and with concerns over social distancing.

Leicestershire County Council opened up their parks this week after a slight relaxing of the Coronavirus lockdown by the Government.

Big visitor numbers were expected over the weekend with people permitted to travel to local beauty spots and attractions.

But in a Facebook post on Saturday marked, 'Visitor Update, 2pm', the park's Trust were clearly keen for no more people to arrive and they encouraged the public to use parks closer to their home.

The post read: "Bradgate Park and Swithland Wood car parks are at capacity.

"Along with pedestrian access this means both sites are busy.

"To ensure safety and social distancing we advise people do not visit, but enjoy local parks and footpaths nearer their homes, or other country parks and woodlands.

"Please do not park on surrounding streets and walk in.

"Thank you for your support and assistance in these challenging times."
