Boy, 11, is hit by car and taken to hospital after collision on route near Hugglescote

 An 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a car on a route between Hugglescote and Donington le Heath.

The incident happened on Standard Hill on Thursday afternoon (October 10).

Police closed the road to traffic and posted a message on social media which read: "Due to a police incident Standard Hill, Coalville, is closed until further notice between Ashburton Road and Ibstock Road. Please avoid the area."

Details of the incident were released this morning (Friday) by Leicestershire Police.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called to a report of a collision involving a car and 11-year-old pedestrian in Standard Hill just after 3.45pm yesterday (Thursday 10 October).

"The boy was taken to hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. No-one was arrested."
