Bishop of Leicester Martyn Snow visited All Saints Church of England Primary School in Coalville a short service to re-dedicate a bell which is being rung again after years of silence.
The Bishop visited with Carolyn Lewis, Christ Church's Diocesan Director of Education, and as well as meeting some of the children.
The school bell is more than 100 years old and has been restored so that it can now be heard again.
Headteacher Andy Mawdsley said that, having the bell sounding at school once more, symbolised renewal and reattaching to their roots as a Church of England school.
He added: "The children, staff and governors thoroughly enjoyed the experience and certainly learned a lot about what it means to be a Bishop.
"One of the children was even able to play table tennis with the Bishop! One of our Year 6 children very proudly rang the bell the next morning."
Carolyn said: "It was wonderful to see the children and staff gathered outside together as a community and to hear the newly-restored school bell ring out across the playground.
"During Collective Worship, the children were encouraged to think of the bell as a reminder that they are called each day to come in to school so that they can learn and grow.
"And, as part of a Church school community, that they learn and grow within the love of God."
