Another pizza takeaway in Coalville has been given the green light by North West Leicestershire District Council - even though a councillor says that signage has been put up without planning permission.

The shop has already been taking shape for some weeks.

Pizza GoGo is a chain of pizza restaurants and takeaways with over 100 stores predominantly in the South East of England.

The store is within walking distance of other pizzerias, with some locals and Councillors suggesting that it is a pizza takeaway too many, and sharing concerns that there are already too many fast food outlets in the area.

Cllr John Geary made his objections known to North West Leicestershire District Council.

He said: "I am once again disappointed that I did not receive notification of this Planning Application within my Ward being submitted and only found out by reading the Coalville Nub News.

"This is not the first time this has happened, for only a few weeks ago the application for a 3G sports pitch at the Owen Street Sports Ground was only brought to my attention by a member of the Football Club.

"This current application is for yet another fast food Outlet on the Belvoir Road corridor, it is within a few meters of the main cross road junction with no off street parking and in the Town Centre Conservation Area.

"The new signage on the front elevation has been erected without planning permission which falls foul of the Conservation Area and also needs addressing.

"I consider we have far too many fast food outlets in and around our town centre and would ask that this one be decided by the Planning Committee."

However, the addition of the store has creates three full-time and two part-time positions.

Pizza GoGo takes the place of Coalville's former William Hill bookmakers.

The shop will be open seven days a week between 11am and 11pm, offering both seated pizza eating as well as takeaways. The store will also be providing delivery services.
