In Kind Direct, a charity that supports people impacted by poverty, has received a new donation of 500 winter warmer kits worth £10,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Coalville.

The kits were donated as part of Amazon's partnership with the charity, which ensures vulnerable people have access to the products they need to keep clean, warm and well.

The Amazon donation will assist In Kind Direct's Warmth This Winter campaign, providing people with products such as warm clothing, blankets and hygiene products who would otherwise go without this winter.

A team of 27 volunteers from Amazon in Coalville took part in packing the kits, including Eva Muranyi.

She said: "I enjoyed packing the winter warmer kits with my colleagues.

"I'm proud Amazon is supporting In Kind Direct's Warmth This Winter campaign, and I'm glad I could be part of it."

Marc Greene from In Kind Direct added: "We're pleased to continue our partnership with Amazon through this donation.

"These kits will go straight to people in our community who need access to essential products, so they can keep warm this winter.

"Any manufacturers or brand who have products to donate and want to support, reach out to us today: [email protected].

"We believe everyone deserves access to life's essentials and that no usable product should go to waste – we exist to enable more people to thrive with confidence and dignity.

"In Kind Direct offers a simple solution to product giving.

"We receive donated consumer products, which we then sort, store and distribute directly to charitable organisations in our network across the UK, helping their services to go further.

"In the past 27 years, over 1,200 companies have donated products, we have distribured over £300m worth of products, supported over 12,300 charitable organisations and diverted nearly 35,000 tonnes of products from waste.

"Donating products to us enables companies to reach not just one, but thousands of charitable organisations.

"We are proud to work with charities, community groups, foodbanks and schools who support a wide range of social issues, from hygiene poverty and domestic abuse, to unemployment, homelessness and mental health issues.

"We are appealing for personal hygiene products in addition to warm clothing, blankets, hats and gloves, children's gifts, books, toys and gifting for adults, jigsaws, books, pamper products and perfume to support people over the winter months."

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon provides students, teachers and parents with free computer science and STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and has teamed up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than seven million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the country.

Earlier this year, Amazon partnered with Comic Relief to become the official home of the Red Nose. Amazon employees across the UK hosted fundraising activities and together with their customers and partners, raised £2.7 million to support those going through the toughest time of their lives.
