The Kick Starting Coalville scheme is looking for 'young, keen enthusiastic people that care about Coalville and want to make a difference'.

Community groups Think FC and Coalville C.A.N., working with local partnerships, have 18 placements on offer.

And they are especially keen to hear from youngsters who have not had a job before.

The key factors they are looking for are enthusiasm and attitude - not lots of qualifications.

The Kick Start Scheme is aimed at helping young people at risk of long-term unemployment get into the job market by providing Government funding for employers to create six-month job placements.

It provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long-term unemployment.

Only individuals on Universal Credit can apply, so anyone interested is bring advised to applying. There are some rules about eligibility, for example, if you have over £16,000 in savings you might not be eligible.

And it takes into account what your partner earns. There are also extra rules for 16 or 17 year olds so it is all worth checking.

It takes up to five weeks to be approved, however, once you are in it is an open and flexible system - so if you move between jobs or start your business and your income goes up and down, you do not have to keep reapplying, your benefit adjusts.

In total there are 18 initial placement opportunities.

Weekly hours are 25 - including personal development time.

Most placements are in the Coalville area. Some include online from home for some of the time.

Two are outdoors – in Whitwick and Markfield. Ashby is a possible base too.

Kick Starting Coalville welcome applications from people who do not normally get a voice and will help them level the playing field.

For IT – some roles need a computer – and you should let organisers know if you have one.  Everyone needs access to internet / Zoom for some meetings.

These are the placements on offer:

  • Garden and Parks Worker North West Leicestershire Veterans Community Support 1
  • Woodland Worker Coalville Education Partnership 2
