Coalville Town's FA Trophy meeting with Matlock Town - due to take place this Saturday - is off.

The Derbyshire side have been forced to cancel all games until November 3 following further reports of positive tests for Covid-19 in their playing squad and management team.

Matlock were set to travel to Coalville for the game but it will not now go ahead and the Ravens go into the next round.

A statement on the Matlock Town website confirmed: "The FA Trophy visit to Coalville Town on Saturday is now off. The Gladiators will be forced to forfeit their place in the FA Trophy competition."

A Matlock spokesman added: "While it's very disappointing that this situation has arisen with the team on such a good run, the health of everyone must be paramount so we need to follow instructions and guidelines to the letter to ensure that everyone stays safe.

"I'm sure all of our supporters and everyone connected with the football club wishes a speedy recovery to those affected and our supporters will no doubt be back supporting our players once we can resume playing football again."

A message on Coalville's Twitter account says: "Sorry to hear this guys, not the way we want to win a game of football. Wishing those affected a speedy recovery."

Matlock's Twitter replied: "Thanks guys, we are gutted as we looked forward to facing you, but it was not to be."

Coalville have given an update on their official website, saying: "This means the game on Saturday, October 31, is now cancelled and Coalville will receive a bye into the next round.

"As mentioned on our tweet when the news broke, this isn't the way we want to win any football game and would like to wish any players/staff or officials affected at Matlock Town a speedy recovery from their positive tests.

"The Gladiators are taking a 14 day break period and wont be playing any games during that time, this included the postponement of their league game yesterday against Scarborough.

"The event has now been removed from our ticketing portal and anyone who has already purchased tickets will receive a refund within the next 3-5 working days depending on your bank.

"This now means our next home game is against Hitchin Town in the league on Tuesday, November 3, with tickets already available to purchase."
