Transport Officer required for our public sector client, initially until August

We need a Transport Officer to join our team and helps provide reliable and legal passenger transport services for the people of Leicestershire.
What you'll do:
- Plan and manage transport: You'll help organise and buy transport services, making sure they're efficient and meet our needs. This includes using computer systems and looking for ways to save money.
- Work with partners: You'll connect with our in-house team and outside transport companies to make sure everything runs to standard.
- Keep things running smoothly: This involves checking vehicle licenses and insurance, helping with training, and coordinating inspections of transport services.
- Manage information: You'll keep accurate records and databases, and prepare reports.
- Solve problems: You'll help us develop better ways of working and handle any issues that come up, including communicating with passengers and solving complaints.
We're looking for someone with:
- Strong computer skills: Especially with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
- Experience in transport or data management: This could include buying transport services, handling data, or working with databases.
- Good communication skills: You'll be talking to colleagues, contractors, and the public.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines.
- A full, valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
- An NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience.
Sometimes you might need to work outside normal hours or at different locations.
