Hours of Work

• Monday to Friday, 7:00am 5:00pm (1-hour unpaid break)

• Full-time, 5 days per week consistent, ongoing work

About the Role

We re currently recruiting an experienced Recycling Operative to join a well-established scrap metal merchant in Shepshed.

This role is hands-on and varied you will be sorting and processing scrap metal, plastics, and other recyclable materials, as well as operating and maintaining machinery. You will need to be confident in stopping machines safely, clearing blockages, resetting settings, and ensuring smooth operation.

The environment is busy, dusty, and noisy, so previous experience in a similar setting especially in metal recycling is highly preferred.

What We re Looking For

• Experience in metal recycling or a similar environment (essential)

• Confidence in operating and maintaining recycling machinery including troubleshooting, clearing blockages, and restarting (essential)

• Strong reliability able to commit to Monday to Friday work

• Good level of spoken and understood English

• Positive attitude and strong work ethic

• Someone looking for a long-term, stable role

Key Responsibilities

• Sorting various scrap materials (mainly metals and plastics)

• Operating recycling machinery safely and efficiently

• Performing maintenance tasks: stopping machinery, clearing jams, resetting systems

• Following strict health and safety procedures

• Keeping the work area clean and organised

• Supporting the team as required
