Leicestershire County Council Locum Up to £38 per hour Senior Social Worker First Response

Role Overview: Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their First Response Team on a locum basis. This role requires a strong background in Child Protection, Court Work, and Assessments, ensuring timely and effective decision-making to safeguard children at risk.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out high-quality Child and Family Assessments in line with statutory guidance
• Lead on Child Protection cases, ensuring children s safety and welfare are prioritised
• Prepare and present robust evidence and reports for court proceedings
• Make informed decisions on thresholds and interventions within the First Response service
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver effective safeguarding outcomes
• Support less experienced colleagues through mentoring and guidance where required

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
• Extensive experience in Child Protection, Court Work, and Assessments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Commitment to child-centred and evidence-based practice

Contract Details:

• Locum role within the First Response Team
• Pay up to £38 per hour
