Job Title: HGV Commercial Workshop Controller Location: Leicestershire Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 per annum (DOE) Hours of Work: Full-time, Monday to Friday, plus every other Saturday Type: Permanent Position

We are seeking an experienced HGV Commercial Workshop Controller to oversee the daily operations of our busy workshop. This is a key role where you will be responsible for organising and managing a team of 6 skilled workers. You will ensure that work is allocated efficiently, maintaining high standards of service and productivity. This is not a hands-on position, but a crucial role that requires a combination of technical expertise and strong leadership skills to ensure the smooth operation of the workshop. Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively organise and manage the workload of 5 HGV technicians and 1 foreman, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard and within set deadlines.
  • Assign and schedule jobs based on technicians' skills and availability, ensuring optimal use of resources.
  • Collaborate with potential candidates to prepare accurate and competitive quotes for repairs and services.
  • Oversee the invoicing process, ensuring all completed jobs are invoiced correctly and promptly.
  • Provide technical advice and support to the team as required, drawing on your in-depth knowledge of HGV systems and repairs.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner. Address any customer concerns or issues as they arise.
  • Handle all necessary administrative tasks, including updating job records, managing inventory, and ordering parts as needed.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with industry standards and company policies, including health and safety regulations.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • In-depth understanding of HGV systems, maintenance, and repair procedures.
  • Proven experience in managing a team, with the ability to motivate and develop technicians.
  • Strong ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and ensure efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with team members, management, and customers.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and software for job management, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of work.
