The Monster Family Walk is coming to Coalville next month.

Organised by North West Leicestershire District Council, the walk aims to get more families active together outdoors in Coalville.

The day will see the Monsters, which were first created by local schools as part of last year's Timber festival, out and about in Coalville Forest Adventure Park for families to find as part of the 1.3km Monster Trail.

There will also be a Monster's village where local providers including our Health and Wellbeing team, the National Forest, and Everyone Active will be providing more information on how you can get active outdoors for free or indoors for low cost along with some giveaways.

As well as all of this, if your kids (under 12 years old) can complete the monster trail they will be entered into the Monster prize draw and stand the chance of winning one of our great prizes.

Also, each child finishing the trail will be given a free goody bag which will include a certificate, water bottle, piece of play equipment, gift vouchers and more.

The Family Monster Walk will be held on Sunday, 16th February 2020, between 10.30am-1.30pm.

Families can arrive any time within this period to complete and enjoy their monster trail.

When you arrive just visit the control desk, which will be located in the monster village, to collect your guide and then when you finish return your completed guide to the same control desk to collect your children's (under 12 years) free goody bag and to be entered into the prize draw.

  • The event will be held at Coalville Forest Adventure park (Urban Forest Park Linden Way, Coalville, LE67 3JY) which is only 5-10 minutes on foot from the town centre off of Linden Way. The Forest Adventure Park provides a circular walk with loads of lovely wildlife to see and there is plenty of parking and an accessible toilet will be available during the event.

  • Be quick as there are only 150 spaces available! If you have any problems or questions with signing up please contact Emily on: [email protected] or 01530 454755.

  • The Family Monster walk is free and you get lots of freebies while you are there.

  • This event is for everyone and we would like to encourage all ages and abilities to come along and join in.

The kids could come on their scooters, or with the push chair. The site is also accessible for wheelchair users so please bring your whole family.

  • The Monster Trail is approximately 1.3km (0.8 miles) in length and we expect that it will take you and your family between 25-35 minutes to complete. There is no rush though and as you go around take your time to see what the monsters are up to and explore the site.
  • The site has parking for approx. 40-50 cars and there will be an accessible toilet with baby changing available on the day.
  • The Council has introduced the Family Monster Walk this year as they would like to encourage more of the communities to take advantage of the great outdoor spaces and National Forest areas around Coalville to
help them stay active and healthy.

  • They would also really like to encourage our young people to start creating active habits now.
