A plan to turn a Thringstone property into a children's home has been withdrawn for a second time.

Residents in and around Bishop Dale, a cul-de-sac off Swallowdale, have objected in numbers to a change of use to a home for children 'from challenged backgrounds'.

Lichfield-based Horizon Care & Education withdrew its application to North West Leicestershire County Council last month to use the property at 1, Bishopdale.

It was quickly re-submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council in an amended form, but the application was again withdrawn on Tuesday.

The original application made in November was for a certificate of lawful proposed use of dwelling house for use by no more than six persons living together as a single household.

A number of objections were received from neighbours, with some people expressing concerns that the scheme would lead to anti-social behaviour and be unsuitable for the area.

On the day the plan was withdrawn, two more objections were received by residents concerned about the prospect of increased anti-social behaviour.
