Coalville area is honoured in Queen's Birthday list

Two people from the Coalville area have been named in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

But are two very different people with one from the world of sport and the other for his work in offering health support to people in need.

Stewart Shepherd, the Founder and Chair of Hospice Hope has even given a BEM for services to the community in North West Leicestershire.

Hospice Hope is a charity which offers support and day care to people in North West Leicestershire living with a life limiting illness.

It offers weekly support cafes across the region for those suffering from illness and their carer, as well as offering respite day care at its main building, Hope House.

People can access respite care at Hope House twice a week, and are collected by a volunteer driver for the day.

They will receive a meal, activities and complimentary therapies at no cost to themselves.

Support cafes run weekly at Castle Donington, Ibstock, Coalville and Ashby and offer support, activities and complimentary therapies all free of charge.

All services are available to anyone living with life limiting illness living in North West Leicestershire.

  • Ellistown-based Emily Scarratt, 31, the Vice Captain of England Women's Rugby Team has received an MBE for services to the sport.

Emily first played for England in 2008 and is best known as the player who secured England's 2014 Women's World Cup triumph with six minutes left in the game.
