A closure order has been obtained by police for a property in Bakewell Street, Coalville - after concerns were raised in relation to anti-social behaviour and drug offences.

North West Leicestershire police officers attended Leicester Magistrates Court on Friday (May 21) where a three-month closure order was granted for 120, Bakewell Street.

The closure order, which is in place until August 20, 2021, was granted under section 80 of the Anti-social behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The order prohibits anyone from remaining on or entering the property except emergency services or those permitted to by EMH Housing and Regeneration Limited.

Leicestershire Police say that concerns had been raised and reports made in relation to the address being central to significant anti-social behaviour to surrounding neighbours and that drug offences were taking place at the location.

Officers have attended the property on a number of occasions in response to the concerns.

Sergeant Ryan Ludlam said: "There were significant community tensions and concern raised in relation to the address.

"We acted on these concerns leading to the closure order being obtained which has been supported by many in the area.

"We hope this does provide some reassurance within the community and that it also shows the action we will take when reports are made to us.

"Please continue to inform us of any concerns you have regarding criminal activity and anti-social behaviour so that we can continue to work with you to keep our communities safe."
